EducationPhD in Ecology and Evolution, Australian National University, 2013-2017
Masters of Science in Biology, Western Illinois University, 2009-2012. GPA: 4.0
Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Music in Music Composition (flute and saxophone), Ohio Northern University, 2004-2009. GPA: 3.86
I have a passion for teaching and helping others, whether its in biology, chemistry, math or music.
I have a PhD, Masters, and Bachelor degree in biology and have several years experience teaching biology courses at the college level. Currently, I teach science and math to adults who did not complete high school and who want to take their GED. I would also feel very comfortable teaching chemistry courses and other related science courses.
In addition, I completed a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition where I took several music theory and composition courses. I have played the flute for 19 years and played in many ensembles during my high school and undergraduate careers (see below). I also played the saxophone and piano, mainly during high school and as an undergraduate. While I would be comfortable teaching beginning to advanced flute students, I only feel comfortable teaching beginning sax and piano as I have not had as much experience on these instruments.
Skills: Proficient at Microsoft Office, the R Statistical Program; Flute: 19 years of experience playing, including performing in large and small ensembles and performing solos with and without accompaniment; Saxophone (tenor): 7 years of experience playing, including performing in large and small ensembles; Piano: 15 years of experience playing as part of lessons
Butler Tech ASPIRE Instructor (May 2017-present): I teach math and science for adults who are preparing to take the GED and/or enter the Butler Tech ASPIRE program.
ANU Student Demonstrator (Aug 2013-July 2016): I assisted students during undergraduate biology courses and taught labs for Molecular and Cell Biology at Australian National University.
Adjunct Professor at Ohio Northern University (Aug 2011-March 2012): I taught two introductory biology courses giving my own lectures and teaching labs. The first course was introduction to molecular biology and genetics. The second was botany.
Graduate Teaching Assistant at Western Illinois University (Aug 2009-May 2011): I taught undergraduate labs for Botany, Microbiology and General Biology for four semesters.
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (Aug 2007-May 2008): I assisted students during labs with identification of organisms for the following courses (Geology, Ichthyology, Ornithology and Natural History).

HobbiesI love writing fictional stories, plays and poems, composing instrumental music, bird watching, hiking and being outdoors. I aim to use creativity and positive encouragement to help my students understand difficult concepts and I easily relate to students with introverted personalities.
